Encoding Unicode - UTF-32 

• ‘Just’ use 32 bits per character

• Still have endianness issues:

00 00 FE FF                 # UTF-32BE BOM
FF FE 00 00                 # UTF-32LE BOM

• Conversion from ASCII to UTF-32 quadruples file size!
