- 50% of the root server traffic comes from only 220 IP addresses
- 78% due to firewalling, client retries
- 12% of the queries for non existent TLD's
- queries for localhost repeated 8–12 times per second
- Good paper, recommended read.
- Given these issues the root servers are increasingly getting geographic redundancy via anycasting
